Welcome to Xanadu!!! We are please to have you with us. Within this area you will find a general guide to our Realm and World. This is basic information and is not meant to cover everything with in our Lands. Again, we welcome thee to Xanadu!

UO Client Version: Age of Shadows (AoS) 4.0.4b

If you are using ANY version other than AoS (such as Samurai Empire) you will not be able to see/use/fight many of our world items or monsters. We have custom scripts that will not be readable by your higher UO client and will cause your client to crash or cause client errors. You can find free downloads of Age of Shadows on the net. Please watch the Client patching carefully as it's easy to over patch. You want to patch to 4.0.4b ONLY!

We have custom files for you to download and add to your UltimaOnline folder. You will find the link to them on the opening page of this Website. You will need WinRAR to open these files. If you do not have WinRAR you can find it www.filehippo.com (search for winrar). Download them onto your desktop and then open and extract them into your UO folder. When it asks you if it should over write these files say Yes To All.

We do NOT allow macroing with 3rd party programs here. Its just NOT necessary as ALL skills are GMed when you come into the World. You MAY build your own macros with the Macro tool supplied within the Options menu, but be aware that should you not answer when a GM or Staff member speaks with you in Realm, you may get kicked from the Land and you will have to re-connect to the World. This is the Staff members call.

The Most Used World and Game Commands:

[help : gives a full list of commands available to players.

[ooc : allows players/Staff to talk with everyone in the Realm.


[sstat : shows everyone who is in the World at the time of the commands usage.


[emenu : this will bring up a neat little emotion menu. Tons of fun!!


Control key + R : Opens your small floating map in game (white dot is your char.)


Control key + P : Opens your paper doll image. (can single click on screen char. also)


Control key + J : Opens your Journal. Use this so that you can read what is said in the conversations around you.


Type Bank: to open your bank box. Must be in bank or near a

bank stone for this to work.


Options Menu : located on your Paper Doll icon. This menu gives you game options such as size of game window, setting speech colors, macro settings (game set and set your own), sound options and many other neat features of the game. Check it out and experiment with it and if you have questions about it, please ask.

Some Common Game Terms:


RP/RPing : to Role-Play, to act, talk, to become your char. within the Xanadu world.


OOC: Out Of Char. Communications. Basically it means you are speaking in Real Time as yourself out side of the games context or the role-play.


AFK: Away From Keyboard.


BRB: Ill Be Right Back- I'm not here right now, but I will return shortly.


Logging/Logged: Im leaving the world for now.

NPCs: Non Player Chars. - These are game generated players which you can interact with, buy and sell from or to, steal from, and in some cases kill and hire.

Page: Located on your Options Menu on Paper Doll and also found on the Help Bar at top of the game play screen. Choose the Page option that fits your need. Write a message in the request area and a Staff person will come to you as soon as possible.

AutoRez: A very useful button on your Help Bar. Its at the top of your game screen. Go to the Help Bar, click Help, click AutoRez. Instant life!

Evos: Dragons that you can hatch, raise and train. See the books at Welcome Ctr.

Vends: Short for Vendors. They are NPCs (see above).

PvP: Player vs. Player- This is combat where players fight other players. (by consent only in Felucia and usually only with Staff sanction)

GM/Seer/Admin.: These are the folks that make Xanadu a fun place to be. GMs are GameMasters; they run events and save us from holes in the world. Seers are above GMs and do things that you dont see in the world. Admins are above Seers and do the things that make our world possible. They are usually the owners-operators of the server where this Realm lives. Without all these good folks, we wouldnt be here!


Travel Books: These books are pre-set for different parts of the world. You can buy the complete sets from the Travel Vendor on top of Moonglow Bank, South of the Welcome Ctr. (They are: Malas, Ishlanar, Trammel, and Felucia, towns & dungeons for each)

Blessed/Blessed Items: These are items that can NOT be taken from your body should you die.

Sent/Sentinal/Harrower: These are monsters that spawn TONS of gold but are a real pain to kill. They are not ment to be EASY and your demise is likely!(Just a warning:)


TMaps: maps that you can use to look for treasure.

SoS/MIBs: Messages In Bottles- these you find while fishing or within monsters. They will lead you to treasures that can be used for decorating your home. (related to fishing and fishing skills only)


Rares: Items that are NOT common in the world. Usually very hard to find items or very expensive ones.


Els/Ellys: this refers to monsters called Elementals. Wind,

Fire, Water & Earth to name a few.


Etheys: usually refers to Ethereal monsters or mounts, they are see-through or invisible.


Event: Something special that Staff does for the folks in the world.


Glow: Refers to the town where all chars. come into the

world. Its short for Moonglow. Its the Realms main meeting place and event jump off point.


Moon Gate: Glowing, colored, sphere shapes, floating in the air. These take you to different areas of the world or to specific spots within the Land and Realm.


UOAutoMap/UOAM: This is a very cool utility! It will map your location anywhere in the world. Find it at www.uoam.net its free!


Party: There is a scroll on your paper doll that says Party on it. If you 2Left click it, it will open to a Party roster. If you want to add someone to your Party for a hunt or some other event, it will allow you/them to loot your/their body in case of death. If your invited to join a party and wish to, simple type /accept in the game window.

Lag/Lag Monster: the general slowing down of your game play. Usually happens in heavily spawned places or where many folks, pets, magic are gathered or used, in one place. It can even cause you to loose your connection to the world for a time.

Some General Rules for a Good Life in Xanadu

(Please read the full Rule Books in the Welcome Center)

1. Show courtesy to all. It costs you nothing and can gain you much.

2. Staff has the final say in any disputes. Period.


3. DO NOT LITTER!! This can not be stressed enough! That is why you get a Blessed Trashcan with your Welcome Bag. If you dont need it and cant sell it, TRASH IT!! Emptying corpses will help the re-spawn and drop our item count in the world too. Item count is the Lag Monsters feast! PLEASE MAKE THIS PART OF YOUR GAME PLAY EVERYDAY!


4. When talking in open chat do NOT cuss, get nasty, be aggressive, abusive or use any other rude mode of speaking. This is a FAMILY shard and many of our players are children so PLEASE dont abuse this chat system!!


5. Staff is NOT here to give you things or replace lost items. They are here to help you if you find a game problem or a scripting problem, to run events, judge contests and in general make sure that our Realm is Fun and viable. Remember they are volunteers with lives outside of Xanadus world. Sometimes it cant be helped if there is no Staff available when you feel there should be or if they must be AFK for a time.


6. Dont gate jump!! If a moon gate opens or is opened by another player, DO NOT GO THROUGH IT UNLESS INVITED!! This is just a simple courtesy. If youd like to go through it, ASK FIRST. Most players will gladly let you come along with them, but ask first, PLEASE.


7. This is NOT a PvP shard. Though some PvP is consented to, it is usually watched or must be sanctioned by a Staff member and can ONLY be done in the Lands of Felucia. If you wish to fight/duel another player it MUST be consented to by the other player/players. YOU MAY NOT LOOT THE OTHER PLAYER UPON THEIR DEMISE!!!


8. This is NOT a shard for Thieves. If you want/must be a thief, do it with the NPCs and leave other players alone.

9. DO NOT leave your pets/dragons/etc. in towns. Stable them or take them out of town and release them back to the wild. If you dont do this Staff WILL delete them! They are NOT responsible for your loosing them and Staff wont replace them.



10. Dont ask for a Staff position! Its up to the Staff to ask you IF they are interested. If you would like to apply page a staff member and give them a book with all your information in it. On why you would be a good staff member for this shard and your capabilities
